AV and IT Support
The school's IT and/or AV staffs are on hand six days a week to assist with technology issues. Both departments are located on the fourth floor of the building; the IT staff at the east end of the corridor, and the AV staff and the equipment room at the west end. The equipment-room hours are announced at the start of each semester, and are linked below.
Email your request to [email protected], with as much advance notice as possible. You can do this any of your email accounts (however Lionmail is preferred) but please sign your email to make clear it isn’t spam. In addition to explaining what sort of assistance you require, please be sure to include your name, class, date, time and room. Requests should be submitted at least 48 hours in advance whenever possible; staff can’t always accommodate last-minute requests. If you need the same equipment week after week, you can submit a standing request – i.e., “Projector and laptop with internet hookup every Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. in 607A.”
For urgent AV issues (ex: projector is in the room as requested, but won’t project), contact equipment-room personnel in Room 405 or, in the case of a computer emergency, the IT staff in 402.
All students are asked to bring laptops -- we have some available for checkout for students who don't have their own -- and docking stations are available in rooms on the fifth and sixth floors.
In order to gain access to a Columbia Zoom Pro account, send an email to [email protected], including your name, UNI and the name of the class for which you require the account. After it is activated, you will find a link to your zoom classroom under the Zoom Class Sessions of your class Courseworks page.
Students and instructors can reserve the equipment necessary for their class via the online booking system Connect2. They can also use the system to renew their equipment. Video tutorials on how to use the Connect2 system follow.
