Columbia University prohibits any full- or part-time faculty member from initiating or accepting sexual or romantic advances or engaging in a romantic or sexual relationship with any graduate student enrolled in a school in which that instructor holds an appointment of any type, or over whom she or he has any type of direct or indirect academic, professional, supervisory or advisory activities. In addition, instructors are prohibited from engaging in any academic, professional, supervisory or advisory activities with any student with whom they have or previously have had a romantic or sexual relationship.
Employees who are aware of any such relationship between a student and instructor are required to report what they know to the University’s Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action.
